Guerlain Moscow Fragrance Review

guerlain-moscow

* Imagine a drunk forester in an orchard.  Or at least an absinthe drinker with pine resin on his coat, drinking cranberry spiked lemonade.

* Those two guys in the cranapple commercials come to mind.

* A soft polished jasmine comes into focus as the cranberry fades to the back.   The licorice/absinthe note provides some depth to the jasmine.

* After the heart notes comes into focus, it becomes a skin scent.

* The base is soft pipe tobacco with a hint of vanilla.

Summary:   When I visited the Guerlain boutique on the Champs Elysees back in 2011, I knew I was going to buy Chamade Pour Homme, and the SA showed me around to another new scents.  I liked this one on first sniff so it was kind of a blind buy.  I like it, but I don’t love it so it’s not one that I would have bought if I had tested it more in depth.  It’s marketed as feminine but it’s easily unisex.  It’s sheer and pretty but it doesn’t really stand out, especially in the Guerlain house. It is a safe fragrance – nothing out of the ordinary – mainly because it is a little muted and soft to the skin.  It’s worth a test but I think you can find a better Guerlain.

Smell Bent Holiday Collection Ice Station Zebra Fragrance Review

smell-bent-ice-station-zebra

* I don’t want to say it smells cold – but it starts off with a mix of frozen forest and clean antiseptic wound dressing.

* It’s an odd dichotomy – great outdoors and operating room.

* Thankfully the scent goes more in the outdoors direction with pine and dirt smells taking the lead.

* The scent quickly fades into a woodsy base with a slight hint of musk.

Summary: To pitch this as a holiday scent, I would say that you are going outside into the snowy forest and chopping down a Christmas tree.  The scent journey matches that pretty closely.  It reminds me of A*Men Pure Sport for its bracing cold burst.  This would be a great after gym scent or in hot weather for a refreshing zing. It’s office-friendly and would make an interesting conversation starter.  If you do wear it at the office, be prepare to reapply after lunch as it is pretty much gone after three hours (a little less than average).

Smell Bent Holiday Collection Snobirds Fragrance Review

smell-bent-snobirds

* Snobirds kicks off with a powerful and really sweet candied citrus.

* It reminds me of those orange jelly candies with the consistency of the insides of jelly beans

* The sweetness turns into a bit of industrial strength cleaner with the feel of Lush Karma

* The intensity dials back gradually as it becomes sweeter and softer.

* The base is a sweet mix of amber and resins, with a hint of patchouli.

Summary: Thinking about the name and how it relates to the holiday – this must be the scent of cleaning your house before leaving to go South for the Winter.   I can’t say that I like it, yet I respect it – because scents rarely get stronger as you wear them.  After testing it for a week, it’s not something I see myself wearing again either.  It’s not office-friendly, and if my description sounds appealing to you, test it before you buy it. It lasts about five hours on my skin, which is good for an EdT.

Smell Bent Holiday Collection Winter Vixen Fragrance Review

smell-bent-winter-vixen

* Gourmand with a capital G – starting with the smell of making hot chocolate with nutella.

* The top projects strongly – people around you will start getting hungry.

* The nutella melts away and Musc Ravageur starts coming through – vanilla and cloves mixed with dirty musk.

* This part lasts for several hours which makes me love it every time I catch a whiff.

* Woods come in for the base with a touch of musk lasting throughout.

Summary: If you couldn’t tell by reading my description, I love this scent.  So much so that I am considering buying a full bottle. It combines two things that I love into one – hot chocolate and the top notes of Musc Ravageur. The holiday interpretation with the title is just about perfect… tempting you with a warm delicious treat and then seducing you sexually.  Longevity is about six hours, which is really good for an EDT.  Winter Vixen also smells like an expensive niche fragrance – like it could be a By Killian or a Tom Ford Private Blend.  With its robustness as an EDT, I could only imagine how glorious an EDP concentration would be.
