Smell Bent Sunshine Fragrance Review

Sunshine kicks off with sweet orange and vanilla.

Victoria, from eaumg, describes this as an orange creamsicle and I totally agree.

The vanilla lightens up a bit yet the citrus sticks around.  Some sweet resins come in.

Projection is quite strong for the first hour and then it comes closer to the skin.

The base notes of sandalwood, resins, and light musk last more than 8 hours.

Summary:  While this is obviously meant as a summer fragrance, I can easily seeing this kind of Sunshine being a perfect pick-me-up for a cold, dark winter day.   Be careful when wearing, because others may be tempted to lick you because you smell so sweet.  For an eau de toilette, the longevity is very good.  At the quite reasonable price point, this is more fun than anything you could pick up in a department store.

Slumberhouse Norne Fragrance Review

Slumberhouse Norne* Norne starts with pine and resin.  The cloud of aroma is very realistic, yet spiritual at the same time.

* At first, I thought I was wearing Serge Lutens Fille en Anglais until a bit of clove changed the mood.

* Norne is dark yet warm, feeling like a matured christmas tree from a noir film.

* Some moss and something a little musty enters the picture.   This may sound bad, but it’s actually quite spiritual, like you are really in the woods.

* The forest gets a little spicy with a touch of incense and pepper in the base notes – but the trees are still the main focus.

Summary:  Norne is a fragrance that everyone needs to experience.  Made completely of forest absolutes, everyone will react to this completely differently.  I am not an outdoorsy type of guy at all, but wearing Norne I feel like I am in the woods even as I sit at my desk typing on the computer.  The scent is magical and really transports you somewhere special.  Norne would make an amazing gift for friends who hike or like to commune with nature in their own spiritual way.  I can’t imagine wearing Norne in an office setting, but it’s great for evenings and weekends.  Although it’s an eau de parfum, it feels like a perfume oil and with its dark color, be careful wearing it with lighter-colored clothing for possible stains.  Norne is a special fragrance that smells like it should cost at least 5 times the retail price.

Slumberhouse Baque Fragrance Review

Slumberhouse Baque

Baque kicks off with a honeyed, fruity tobacco so sweet that it borders on coconut.

Projection is through the roof.  People several feet away will smell you coming.

After about 90 minutes, it begins to calm down with a resinous amber joining the coconut with a little bit of vanilla.

Thick and heavy, Baque warms on your skin and takes on a life of its own.  A few times this has screamed for hours, while other times it has been more mellow.  I think its like a fragrance mood ring the way it projects how you feel.

The base notes of tobacco and wood last until you shower again.  It simply doesn’t go away – it lasts a long time.

Summary:  Ok, I will admit it, I am a Slumberhouse fanboy.  The dark, resinous interesting concoctions that they dream up could be considered the American response to Serge Lutens.  Test this before you buy because the fragrance is so layered that you might get something completely than what I do.   If you are a fan of Tom Ford Tobacco Vanilla (or are considering purchasing it), I would recommend trying this as well.

Ineke Field Notes From Paris Fragrance Review

Ineke Field Notes From Paris

* Field Notes starts with a juicy orange blossom and sweet patchouli.

* Although this is listed as a feminine, I definitely can see guys wearing it.  It reminds me of the better Chanel masculine fragrances – like a sweet cologne.

* The orange blossom stays present throughout the fragrance.  It starts to get a little soapy when the sweet patchouli is joined by tobacco and leather.

* Once it gets past this phase, Field Notes is different every time I wear it.  Sometimes I get wood and amber with orange blossom in the base.  Other times I get more tobacco with a touch of tonka.

Summary: Field Notes From Paris is an orange blossom fragrance that is full-bodied but not overpowering.  This would be a great office scent as it feels like a classic masculine with a modern twist.  It lasts through the work day and the base notes will go on into the evening.  This would make a great gift for college graduation (or even father’s day). It’s very wearable and a bit unique – just like the person you would probably be buying it for.
